Vidyard Co-founders Honored as Young Entrepreneurs

Congratulations, Mike and Devon!

We never get tired of seeing our clients get credit for their greatness. Last night, Vidyard co-founders Michael Litt and Devon Galloway won the Ontario EY Entrepreneur Of The Year award in the Young Entrepreneur category.

In the time The Dialog Lab has been working with Vidyard, we have seen Mike’s and Devon’s brilliance firsthand on several occasions, but what’s great about this award is that it recognizes them for both their successes with Vidyard as well as their community leadership.

The Kitchener-Waterloo region about an hour west of Toronto is a hotbed of innovation in part because of the strong academic presence of the University of Waterloo but also because of the dedication of local entrepreneurs such as Devon and Mike who make it part of their mission to give back.

As two kids fresh out of college (or university, as they say in Canada), they identified a need for companies to have better data on who watched their online videos, and they built the technology to address the demand. They earned a spot at Silicon Valley’s ultracompetitive Y Combinator accelerator in 2011. At the end of their YC session, unlike so many startup founders who stay in the Valley because of the proximity to venture capital and qualified employees, Devon and Mike took Vidyard home to Kitchener, where they have filled the office with local hires, many from their alma mater.

Outside of Vidyard’s walls, Mike and Devon work hard to support the entrepreneurs coming up behind them. They invest in new startups, sponsor events and provide mentorship to the companies at Communitech, the Waterloo region’s hub for the commercialization of innovative technologies, where Michael serves on the board.

What these two guys are doing is not just “young” entrepreneurship and leadership. It’s entrepreneurship and leadership – period. Congrats, guys!
